Key Functions of NIB

Introduction

National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) is a registered, non-governmental, and independent public interest organization committed to building a just, crime-free, and aware society.

The organization operates under constitutional limits and does not carry out any investigative or law enforcement actions. Instead, it plays a critical role in reporting, awareness, documentation, and public engagement.

1. Receiving and Processing Public Grievances

NIB accepts verified written complaints or online submissions from individuals or organizations relating to matters of public interest, human rights violations, corruption, or safety concerns.

Each complaint is processed professionally and referred to the appropriate authority as per its nature and severity.

2. Reporting Critical Information to Authorities

One of NIB core functions is to collect and forward verified information received from the public or members regarding issues such as:

  • Anti-national activities and anti-social behavior
  • Information on wanted criminals or organized crime
  • Illegal arms trafficking, drug smuggling, fake currency circulation
  • Child labor, bonded labor, sexual harassment, and human rights violations

This information is submitted to:

  • Local Police Stations and Senior Law Enforcement Officers
  • State and Central Government Departments
  • National Law Enforcement Agencies (CBI, NIA, ED, etc.)
  • Human Rights Commissions, Women & Child Welfare Boards, and Judicial Bodies

Note: NCIB does not conduct independent investigations and only acts as a bridge for credible information sharing.

3. Public Awareness and Campaigns

  • Cyber Crime Awareness Seminars
  • Legal Aid Camps for underprivileged citizens
  • Campaigns for Women’s and Children’s Safety
  • Education on Human Rights, Consumer Rights, and Constitutional Duties

4. Research and Social Reporting

NIB conducts research and field surveys on pressing social issues. It prepares and submits public reports to relevant authorities and publishes content that educates society on crimes, corruption, and legal rights.

5. Use of Social Media and Media Outreach

NIB uses media and social media as powerful tools to raise awareness. It actively shares public interest messages, cyber safety tips, and legal rights information.

6. Capacity Building & Training Programs

NIB regularly conducts training programs for members, youth volunteers, teachers, and social workers on human rights laws, cyber security, public reporting, social leadership, and legal aid processes.

Both offline and online workshops are organized across different regions.

7. Emergency and Collaborative Response

During natural disasters, emergencies, or public safety threats, NIB coordinates with authorities for relief support and information exchange. It supports community policing and social order through citizen participation.

8. Other Public Welfare Activities

  • Free legal guidance to victims
  • Assistance in social rehabilitation efforts
  • Collaboration with NGOs and like-minded institutions

Important Note: NIB does not carry out raids, arrests, or enforcement actions. It is an awareness, information, and advocacy platform that supports authorities through lawful and peaceful means.
